PC Question-How do I stop these sex windows opening up?

Every time I am online, I keep getting new windows opening that the pop up stopper doesnt get. They are new sites, not pop ups, and are porn, or dating sites with half naked women on them! My 10 yo like to go online now and again, and I am too worried to let him on at the mo! Can I do anything to stop them, or do I need a parent package thingy? Thanks

sounds like you have got spyware on your PC. These are small programs that is loaded without your knowledge for advertising purposes and are v annoying.

Download Spybot from here
and adaware from here
Both are free . Download and install each then run a full system scan on each.

Hope this makes sense! Good luck

Which ISP are you with, tigi?

The only way I found to completely remove them was to wipe the pc and start again from scratch.

Look in Add/Remove progs to see if they are listed. If so, you might be able to un-install them.

Not totally sure about this but....

If you are in Windows Explorer you could go into the Tools Menu and select 'turn on pop-up blocker'. You could also go into Internet options on the control panel and select a higher security level - which might have the unfortunate effect of making it quite difficult to use the internet at all. Do you have an antivirus or internet security package installed? There is often a pop-up blocker option there.

Sorry this is a bit vague...

PS: If you have anti-virus you could try running this as well

Sorry just realised you already have a popup blocker - didn't read it properly.

Hiya, I have a pop up blocker which tends to grab all the pop ups. These, though, are 'proper' new windows. I have got adaware, which makes no difference to it!

I had this all the time. The way I sorted it out was to download the SP2 patch for windows XP. It's an upgrade for windows and is free. that's sorted all my pop up problems
