QUICK QUICK... need an answer!

need to go down to the gp's surgery again today due to yet another bout of thrush (nipple and ds mouth)
Last time I tried to get a same day appt they refused me one and said i had to wait 2 days, I ended up going to the hospital walk-in thingy to get tablets!

Someone told me a while ago that by law they HAVE to give you a same day appt for an emergency.I can't feed DS, and I am finding it incredibly painful to even express. I ended up putting him on formula last time because it was so painful.

Can anyone tell me if it is true that they are obliged to get a doctor to see me? I would like to quote this at them, but obviously will look a fool if it isn't true!

TIA

Erm... don't know but my surgery always gives same day appointments if you say it's an emergency. You have to turn up at the end of normal hours and wait if there are no specific appointments.

ALL doctors have emergency appointments or 'duty' doctors so you should always be able to see them . Dont be fobbed off -

If you want the same prescription as last time, just renewed, you might be able to get it sorted over the phone, and just go in and pick up the prescription?

Don't ring just go down and stand firm - tell them you cannot wait because you are unable to feed your child. Good luck!

Starlover - you're responsible for your ds feeding so it is an emergency - why should you have to put him on formula becasue the doc wont see you? - nhs supports bf so it should go against this. Don't be fobbed off - ask to speak to who ever is in charge. Make a fuss. Fore the thrush get your anti fungal cream for you & ds. Plus wash at 60 all feeding bras, bed linen, baby clothes, towels etc - anything that has come into contact with you & ds. Sterilize any dummys, bottles etc. Could ask for a candida test as well as this can cause thrush to flare up. Taking antibiotics can cause thrush so if you're been taking these then get a probiotic suppliment or have live yogurt to restore the bablence. Check with your doc on all of this. Good luck with this.

Starlover, I am on your behalf - what a total arsehead!

Very glad that you've got the treatment, but very cross that you had to go through all that to get it!

thing is now they'll have me down as a "problem" patient... or at least, i feel they will.

through my sobs i did manage to tell them it's all their fault i am mixed feeding because they wouldn't let me see anyone last time.
i hope they're pleased with themselves.
