I am expecting #3 at Christmas and need to get a bigger car to fit me, DH, DD (3yrs), DS (18mths) and new baby. I love the VW Touran but can't figure out how to fit the three kids in the second row of seats as nowhere can I get dimensions for the car seats/boosters that I'll need. Is there anyone out there who's already cracked this and who could tell what seats they have bought? V. grateful for any help!

we've got a touran, and you can get 3 car seats in. we've got one of each kind and plenty of room. it's a lovely car!

We have a Touran and 3 kids, although ours were older when we got it, so the oldest was on a booster seat in the middle. I reckon the best thing you can do is go and visit the garage and try it out with the seats you already have. When you have the baby and it's in the rearward facing seat, you can have the airbag switched off so it can go in the front when your DH isn't with you, which gives the other children more space.

Some boosters/carseats are narrower than others so you're right to check.

Have to say, Touran is GREAT with three kids and all their friends/clobber!

My dh has a Touran from his last job, it's a very good family car. You can fit three car seats in no problem in the second row.

Thanks for everyone for responding - I do love the car but as we currently have two HUGE car seats (those Britax ones that can face bothways), I struggled to see at the test drive how to fit in a third child so can I ask which make your seats/boosters are??

When we first got the car, ds was on a seat only booster (from Mothercare but not one with the handles on either side as they were wider), dd1 was on a slim foam booster with a back and dd2 was in a large Britax. But this was a good few years ago. You could for a little while have you or DH sitting between the two older kids in the back when all of you are in the car, or use one of the fold-up seats in the boot for the eldest?
