Dp and I are going to a house party tonight of someone I know at work who's lovely and we get on really well - but he's 26 and most people going will be in their 20's and I feel sooooooo old...

They'll all be getting plastered/stoned and generally having the kind of night I used to have around 15 years ago when I was the same age!

I want to go - it's been ages since I've been to a party like this but am anticipating I'll last about an hour and be back home and in bed before it really gets going.

Sigh. Am nervous and kind of depressed already.

Probably shouldn't go...

Ah go on.

Park yourself in a corner holding court. Have the young things bring you drink.

Thanks - that's cheered me up! I'm going to go and have a shower, do my hair and get changed (into suitably scruffy student-type attire...). I just feel like saying 'hey - I used to have parties like these you know - I could tell you a thing or two' but that'll make me sound even older...!

Ho hum. Am most scared of the pretty young thin 20 something females who will be there - it'll be impossible to do any credible flirting!

Don't do flirting, do wise and slightly aloof.

It's what I do.

Until I fall over drunk .

Hope it goes well.

Hmm - I was a bit wise and not very aloof. mostly v. drunk and a bit stoned!

Just back and not quite with it - glad we went and am v. happy that lovely lesbian we met said we must be only in our early 30's (I love her) and that we were celebrity lesbian couple with children...!

Will suffer for it in the morning though...

obv. though was one of the first to leave and most people were arriving just as we were phoning for a cab - the youth of today huh....

"Celebrity lesbian" is a phrase I don't think I could say when drunk

Am sooooo wasted - I couldn't say it either but was happy to be called it..! it's been ages since we met anyone who doesn't know us and our family make up - was quite nice to witter on about it again!

ooh - am v.v. blotto though - not quite sure when the room's going to stop spinning...

Your typing is surprisingly good, considering!

Taking a bowl to bed with you?

no way - dp has emetophobia so I'm staying up, having some cornflakes in a bit and going to bed when I'm feeling slightly steadier on my feet (am correcting typing as I go along - sadly am v. good at covering up drunken tracks..! ).
