just to make you feel better it took my DH 6 goes to pass his, and he had to have hypnotherapy before the 6th attempt, to help him with the stress!! He would really recommend it.

So sorry hon, I know how devastating it is, especially if you live in a an area with massive waiting lists for a new date (my local list was 12 weeks !)

All I can say is don't give up. Don't waste all the time and money spent on this. Keep going, you will get there and it will be so worthwhile when you do.

Hugs

thanks katzguk
thanks NomDePlume, just spoke to dp and then rang dlva to try and get another one, can get one from 20th april, so quite quick really, but have to ask instructer when shes free first am waiting for her call back?

i just wish he could have listend to my reasoning as to why i did what i did, cos i am adament i should not have failed this time..agreed with them everyother time, but not today

Evesmama it is pointless trying to argue with them....my driving instructor said they are a law unto themselves and arguing with them will only make it worse. If they have decided you have failed, you have failed adn thats the end of it (gutting I know....- I failed twice and gave up - stupid thing to do, cos now I'm going to have to spend the same money again to relearn....) My mum took five attmepts - her driving instructor said she was no better (or worse)on the fifth than she was on the first.....

My Mum passed on her SIXTH attempt !

Misdee - So you passed your theory then (seem to have a dim memory of you taking it recently?)? Well done .

Stay positive Evesmama, it will happen for you.

The time I failed I drove really well but made one big mistake. The time I passed I drove very badly but scraped a pass. It's all a bit random. If you thought you had passed then you have the confidence to know you can drive -- now it's just a matter of getting the bit of paper to prove it. Don't let it knock you back too much.

oh, i so sympathise with you evesmama. I've only just recently passed mine. I failed once years ago, gave up and then failed again in Feb. Just passed at beginning of this month. You will do it. I know it's hard, horrible and expensive but I never thought I'd pass and I did. Do you mind me asking why he failed you today?

i was joining a road and at first didnt realisie the road i was on wassnt a lane but a slip road, i soon realised..looked over my shoulder, looked in mirror(nothing coming), moved across and carried on(plenty of time before slip road ended...

however, because in his opinion, i 'couldnt'have stopped in time 'if' there was any traffic coming!!!he failed me

firstly...plenty of room even for learner like me to stop if needed..secondly..there wer'nt any effing cars coming and none anywear behind even after pulling out!!!!

if i had pulled out in front of a car cos i should have moved across earlier..okay fail me, but not when i did everything right and was completely safe
there supposed to fail for something you've done...not something we 'could' have done

commiserations Evesmama. My Dp was failed too this morning he was failed on..... wait for it.... taking too long to make a turn!!!! Dp doesn't recall causing a massive queue nor does he recall sitting happily whilst the road was clear, his instructor was and said it should only amount to a minor fault, dp and his instructor reckoned the examiner was just not pleased this morning and would have failed dp regardless another £45 + more lessons to keep his hand in.
But you are not alone. Good luck for next time.

have u got hold of your instrucvtor yet? slots for tests get taken pretty quickly.

Report
bonniej · 24/03/2005 16:19

it's not fair. both of these incidents certainly don't sound like fails to me. You fail if you commit a serious or dangerous fault which neither of these are! It's not fair that it's down to just one person to pass or fail, after all they may be having a bad day and will fail regardless. I would be very as well. At least when I failed I knew I had as I did something really silly (drove in the exit on the return to the test centre), but it's harder to accept when you have driven well. You must keep going and hopefully get a nice examiner next time who will judge you fairly.

Don't know whether it's true..but I remember when I was learning that my instructor said a lot of it depends on how many passes there have been already that month - ie if they've already passed their quota for that month then you fail! I thought i should have passed the 2nd time - and certainly didn't drive any better the 3rd time - but passed.
Fingers crossed for the next time!

I have failed 4 times and its just so shit isn't it. I am sorry this is not helpful but I REALLY feel your pain sweetie! Its just awful isn't it.

Take a break from driving thats what I did because I was killing myself failing and failing. I am a better driver for having the break although still working up the courage for text number 5

thanks for all your lovely replies

got back in touch with instructer and have booked next test[scared emocion]

ive also heard that they only pass so many a month, and didnt think that applied as i accepted my dangerous fails on previous tests, but today...i really believe someone wasnt looking out for me

instructer has also told me she wont accept payment for any more lessons!!
she said we've become friends and its not fair the amount of money ive paid out so far!!

cheeky dp said does she know how much money shes gunna lose out on by the time you pass!!!

it took me 5!! Went for a hypnotherapy session before it and then (ashamed emoticon) went the pub and got smashed the night before test so was very hungover for test --- and passed despite the fact I asked to do my reverse manoevre twice as I messed it up the first time!!

Good luck -- you will do it!
