where to go dancing in central london?

i will have the opportunity to go dancing next month with dh in central london! yipeeeee!!!

however no idea where to go. needs to play cheesey crap pop/70's disco type stuff and not be full of teenagers. any ideas?

The time out website is pretty good - you say when you want to go, and they will show you options. (I do go clubbing, but more east/central, and the two nights I go to, one is house/etc, the other is gay/random.)

Hmm, don't know what places there are like. Pretty touristy, I'd assume, maybe some mega clubs? Here is the time out search engine. NB there is an indie, rock, retro and pop sub-category, which sounds like what you want.

I went here for a silly girly dance about a while back and it was fab - very cheesy with very few teenagers in evidence.

We were all in our 30s/early 40s and fitted in perfectly.

A-ha, Prince, Madonna etc.

how easy would it be to get to camden at that time of night? how late does the tube run?

The tube system is run by Cinderella's godmother, so last trains are around midnight.

Sooooo, you have to do night bus/minicab home - but there should be lots around Camden. Have a look here for more info.

Last train to Camden from West End is about 12.30am I think.
Loads of night buses from outside the club.
Where will you be staying?

soho is easy walking distance of that area isn't it? i wonder if there is anywhere in soho?

There are lots of places in soho. Heaven is the only one I can think of off-hand (big gay bar, maybe not to your DH's taste?), but there are deffo others - there are also some in Holburn. I'd look on the Time Out site by date.
