out of recycled bits n pieces?

I've got as far as egg boxes for xmas tree decs, people out of old washing up liquid or pop bottles & thats it!

Has to be relatively quick & simple enough for 19mo and 3yo to do before the 3 yo goes to nursery. Am going to have a google n see what I can find as well, just wondered if anyone here had any ideas

Caterpillar out of egg box cut in half lengthways and stuck together at the short end (iyswim...).

Papier mache animals - the old round a balloon business for the body, then loo rolls for the legs and neck and something else for the head (ping pong ball? Scrunched up newspaper?).

Aquarium out of ols shoe box.. paint inside back blue.. hang pieces of green paper from inside top to be seaweed.. fishes out of sparkly paper, decorate inside bottom to look like the seabed.. crabs, snails, shells..

My DC made an elmo elephant out of the top of the plastic milk bottles the other day. the handle was the trunk etc....then covered it with big squares of brightly coloured paper! Especially good if you read the books!
If not go for a short walk and collect various leaves etc and then just let them stick em on the paper! Great fun!

I'd forgotten all about this after my oh so busy afternoon of doing nothing while oh watched the lo!!

springbaby blue peter makes . . . fab!! used to love them when I was a kid. Never allowed to do any of them though

elmo elephant . . . will save a couple of milk bottles for that too!!

midnightexpress not sure about papier mache n school uniform but, egg box caterpillar is so obvious & it never occurred to me!
