Parkers give you a value for you car as private, trade or part exchange price. You can access the site via the autotrader website. When we sold ours it seemed quite accurate. loking at the autotrader website also gives you an idea of what they are selling for.

If you sell your car (or trade it in) to a dealership or garage you'll always get quite a bit less than you would if you sold it yourself (up to a couple of grand, for a £8 - £10 k car) but it's less hassle. A word of warning, though, if you do sell it yourself - DO NOT fall for the people who phone you up and say "We have a number of people interested in buying your car - pay us xxx and we'll put you in touch with them" I'm horribly ashamed to admit I once paid a firm like this £70 and of course never heard another word. I've seen stuff about them on Watchdog since. Good luck!

I remember reading about a bloke who gives you a personal value for your car

I think there was a thread about him

His name is something like HONEST FRED

Honest John , kanga (you were close!)

Glass's .

You have to pay for valuations though.

Do try Honest John, YG, if you email him with those details he will email you back with his opinion.

Oh, was it?

But you are changing anyway? With the new Zafira you get a proper belt in the middle seat, don't you? I do like mine but that lapbelt really annoys me!

RTKM, tried to CAT you. Wanted to ask about first aid course. Hope you get it.

Yorkiegirl, you could also try What Car - don't know if it is their own database or they have just 'borrowed' if from one of the other information suppliers...

Dealers will always give you low low value for your car, but you need to see if it weighs up against an extra special deal on the price of the new, and factor in the aggro - and risk - of selling it privately. If the car's not a lemon maybe consider trying to sell it on MN ? It's also worth going to several different second hand dealers. One may have a particular customer who has expressed an interest in a car like yours, and they may buy it for more than rock bottom trade price as they can see a quick profit. HTH.

hi yorkie girl

don't worry if you thought the handbrake wasn't too good, i didn't like it at the start, was used to my 3 door 206!! but got used to it really quickly and now love it. touch wood - i've had no problems with it...the 206 was another story though. also the deciding factor for me was the ncap safety tests. my friend is a bit of a car freak and had decided on the zafira until he read the results. apparently he said on frontal impact the zafira got really bad reviews. the grand scenic has 5 stars. also go to another dealer and see what they offer you. i went to 3 before i got mine on 0% interest.

hth

YG, FYI, there was quite a discussion on 7 seaters plus lots of Zafira ino on this thread here. Let us know how your test drive went.

Alternatively search for Zafira in text of current Products messages, there are several threads.

I really like mine except for 3 things and they have sorted 2 of them in the latest model - the proper seatbelt in the middle seat, and a 40/20/40 split middle bench (mine doesn't split at all).

The other thing is the lack of onboard stowage space for the parcel shelf and the boot carpet when you have the rear seats up.

Have you looked at Corolla Verso btw? All 5 rear seats fold flat into the floor.

Honest John's Corolla Verso review - he likes it!

List price is £16K though

Second hand maybe? (That was last Sept.)
