I've been roped in to help decorate the school hall for the annual disco next month, and we are really stuck. Obviously its a large space with high ceilings so needs to be something to make an impact. Anyone any ideas what we can do? All help gratefully received!

can you string things across the ceiling (like cord from DIY store) and hang it with loads of bright coloured paper ribbons (crepe paper?) .. or would that be a fire risk?

what age kids?

Net of balloons for the grand finale ?
Does the disco have a theme ? It would be easier to make it a Black & White Disco or Silver & Gold !

Its a primary school with just a fancy dress theme. We've tried to be more specific in the past and it hasn't been hugely popular.

How about hanging twinkly / glitter shapes from the ceiling that would catch the light or mirror balls seen be quite easy to find now (left over Xmas Decorations ?)

What about the kids making a few of their own mirror balls by sticking foil pieces and bits of coloured cellophane onto blown up ballons? Then you could hang them in a semetrical pattern round the ceiling.

nice ideas everyone. Would like to get the kids involved in the making, so will run these ideas by the PTA. Thanks.

collect lots of cds, internet connection cds, freebie cds etc and hang them from beams etc.

Now there's a brilliantly effective and easy decoration. Thanks a lot!
