Have I left it too late to plant bulbs?

MIL gave me some daffodil bulbs last year. It says on them to plant in the Autumn but typically they were shoved in a cupboard and forgotten about til they were unearthed today.
Can I still plant them and will they flower this spring? We live in the North of Scotland so Spring may be a while yet...

someone else asked this a while ago - I'd say it'd be ok - just don't plant them as deep as they recommend, and put somewhere sunny.
Us down south have got our daffs half up by now.

They might not flower this spring, although you will probably get leaves, but they should flower in subsequent years.

Wallace, I'm also in Scotland and planted my bulbs last weekend. I put mine into pots rather than the garden and they seem to be okay so far, apart from the kitten digging them up again!

Thanks all. After that we never got around to it today! Will have to wait for the next spell of mild weather now...April perhaps

Good idea to plant them in pots, especially if they need sun as it is in short supply in my garden at this time of year - I can move them around.
