We quite often do this- if you have children that span a range of ages I don't know what else you can do really. They watch quite a few things together but there's only so much Scooby Doo dd can take.

Try and only have one on but then if one is watching tv then the other is either playing with toys or the game boy/leapster!

am gonna have to separate my 2 and put the TV on upstairs - they are squabbling over what to watch downstairs - when dh comes home he'll have the 3rd TV on in the kitchen whilst he cooks dinner

Would have said that this is the perfect hour for TV, and if they can't agree, then can't see the problem. Would prefer the older one to watch his own thing rather than to introduce the younger to something less appropriate too quickly.

Of course, whilst the children slob in front of tv you're meant to be making tea/finishing off housework ready to present glowing house to husband.

So get off Mumsnet!

I hardly ever watch TV in the day - too busy on Mumsnet

subutteo is notoriously tantrum inducing, cods. Don't worry. He probably needs TV chillin time to recover.

DS2 plays it with DH and if he doesn't win there's hell to pay - and DS2 is almost as bad - OK, coddy, DS1 may watch this time but I will be keeping an eye on the wallops in future...

We always have 2 on the go! If Lottie is watching a disney DVD or Cbeebies I have something on in the kitchen so i keep sane.

We have 2 TVs in our house - one in my room, and one in the family room. The VCR and DVD player are in the family room, and somehow it has become understood that you watch in the family room if you're watching a video or DVD, and in Mummy's room if you're just watching regular telly. Quite often there'll be a child in each room watching something different.

The only problem I have with my little one watching tv in my room is that she insists on un-making my bed and climbing under the covers to watch, so there are always pillows and my PJs all over the floor.

We could do with another because Ds will only allow cbeebies on (yes i do mean allow, i can't stand the moaning), but dd1 and dd2 prefer cartoon network or nickelodean now.

Dd1 wanted one in her room but it isn't finnished yet so i said maybe next year.

Might get one for our room then they can watch it in there.

My DD is upstairs in her bedroom watching My little pony on playstation and DS is watching Cbeebies in the living room. I used to be one of those "absolutely no tv in the kids bedrooms" kind of people but we were given a portable recently and I put in her DD's room when she was ill one weekend and there it stayed. It's not plugged into the aerial so she can't watch anything unsuitable and I love the fact that I can let them sit up there and watch a dvd and I get a bit of quality time on my own down here. Please don't tell my mum....!

Most of the time I don't bother anymore, because of my litle 2 year old bed-wrecker. But am very embarassed if someone comes over and they can look right into my bedroom and see pillows and pyjamas sprawled all over the floor.
