Hi there, I'm very new to this but thought I'd give it a try as I've seen that other mums have done so! I'm moving to Penrith in December with my daughter who will be 11 by then, and i was wondering if there were any groups or activities that I could get involved in? I'm 47, single, a teacher and I like outdoorsy stuff, gardening? I'd like to meet people- where can I go to do that? Hope someone can help, thank 😊

Hello Sarah. Where are you living at the moment? What are expectations? Are you involved in any particular groups at the moment?

Hi, thanks for responding! I'm currently in York and have a good network of friends made up from mostly mums that I met when I had my daughter..I'm interested to know what goes on in Penrith in terms of leisure? Are you from Penrith? I'm not into rock climbing, but walking (any groups?)I'm good with, national trust volunteering I'd like, most things that involve a glass of wine! Women's institute? Penrith feminist's? Yoga? Not sure what my expectations are really, I'm just a bit concerned I might feel isolated..

Yes, I live just outside Penrith. It's a lovely place, but much smaller than York. There are definitely yoga and Pilates groups, some of the classes are in nearby villages. There are also walking groups as Penrith is so close to the Lake District, as I'm sure you know. I know there are a couple of different dance classes, choirs, bell ringing... it depends on your interests I suppose. There is a good leisure centre/pool too that has a number of classes every day/evening. Penrith library is a good place to start as many groups advertise for members there.

That's great, thanks for the info, I think its reassurance I want most of all at the moment! I will check out the library next time I'm up..😊
