So do you order them and get them delivered to the undertakers? Take them to the crematorium? Take them to the home of the principal mourner (if that makes sense). Since I am sure to get it wrong whatever I do, I was hoping some more savvy mners could help

Contact funeral director and ask them.

I don't know the 'rules' but my view is - if it's a friend whose relative has died and you want the friend to have the flowers you can always take them or have them delivered to their house. I'm not sure what happens to flowers delivered to/taken to the crem, I suppose it's then up to the family to decide whether to take them or leave them behind. Some families prefer a collection for charity rather than flowers. From my experience we had only one bouquet at a family funeral which cost a lot of money but was left behind at the crem. We asked for donations to charity instead. My opinion only :)

From helping to organise my dad's funeral last summer. We only had family flowers which we organised separately to the funeral directors but got delivered to the fd. Some friends sent sympathy flowers before the funeral. However my dad did have in his will that there should be only family flowers and others should donate to charity. We raised a staggering amount for the charity.

Oops hit send too early. The funeral director asked if we wanted to take the flowers home from the crem which we did.
