Acrylic Nails

Just a quickie, this is the only place I could think of to get an honest opinion! I'm thinking of starting a mobile business doing acrylic nails. Not sure if there's a lot of money to be made so would be interested to find out how many of you actually get your nails done. Also does anyone know the best way to learn? I've found a couple of courses where you study at home but they are quite expensive. Has anyone got any experience of these? Haven't a clue about any of this but just looking for some way to earn some money around the kids. Thanks in advance Smile

I know a few people who do this professionally, and they seem to emjoy their lives. They earn reasonable money, and have completely flexible schedules. FWIW, all of them got their start in a salon and then went independent/mobile when they had an established clientele. Not sure you could really get enough business to make a living any other way....

Oh, and btw, they all do pedicures too as many people like the idea of getting a pedicure at home.

i have a freind who is just about to complete her course. she went to college to study in the evenings.
i think she has fond it difficult to get people interested in getting them done for her course.

I ouwld have thought she'd be inundated as everyone from home (london) has their nails done once a fortnight...including me until the split and i couldnt afford to GRrr.

i'd say it all depends on where you are and what the local demand is.
do you have a local salon? if so go and ask how busey they are. if not go to a local beauticians and ask if they would be interested in you maybe coming in twice a week and offering your services...that way you will have your own flexibility but be able to offer a service in an established environment and then once you havea good client list you can go fully mobile.
