Do any nurseries offer discounts for teachers??

Hi

Just wondering what any teachers out there do. I would prefer a nursery to a CM but am struggling financially and think I may have to go with CM as would probably work out cheaper as I have to go back FT.

I offer teachers to only pay for 2 days during the holidays instead of a full week.
which is very fair as i could fill the space up, but my parents have been very loyal so i dont mind.

I charge half of the usual weekly fee to 'hold' the space for the child returning after the holidays.

If the parent wanted to use me they can then pay for time used.

My childminder charges me half during all school holidays and she will give me a morning for both for that. When I looked into nurseries there was nothing like that. You could have 4 weeks holiday (half pay) per year but for all other holidays you had to pay full whack. When I sat down and worked it out that was roughly £1500 per year for time not used...childminder it was then!!

the nursery that my lo goes to offers a term-time only contract for teachers. it is not attached to a school. I think though that this is very unusual (teachers come from MILES to this nursery!

they do this by running a play scheme in the summer and other hols which keeps the numbers balanced

we allow any parents to drop or swap sessions as they wish, with a bit of notice
we also have a holiday club so can take in extra children over the holidays to balance the books
we have lots of teachers who use our nursery
it is always worth asking the individual nurseries how flexible they can be

There's a nursery reasonably near me (it's in Aldershot) which is only for teacher's children. It's lovely, term-time only, and when I was looking about 3 years ago, it cost 20 pounds per day !! It was lovely (my dh is a teacher), but they only had a space for ds, and not dd (quite a big waiting list), so it was not feasible for us.

They do exist, that one was on the childcarelinks site, and I phoned it up (because it was very cheap), and they said it was for teacher's children (of any school).
