What happens to my 18mo dd's existing nursery place when she gets to 3?

Hi - my 18 mo dd goes to a nursery 1 day a week and she's really happy and settled in this nursery.

Can someone tell me what happens when she gets to 3 and gets the 15 hours per week entitlement?

Will she have to change nurseries to one that will take her 2.5 hours per day?

As long as your nursery accepts the grant there is no reason why you need to move her but you will need to pay for additional hours over the 2 1/2 sessions. You can use 2 x 2 1/2 hours in each day.

Hope this helps

They're Ofsted registered so I think they should accept the grant in that case then.

Will she still be entitled to the remaining hours at another nursery?

Yes she can have 2 sessions at current nursery (but you will have to pay about 1/2 as your sessions will almost certainly be linger than 2.5hrs).

You can then take her somewhere else for 3 sessions.

TBH it will all have changed by then as many councils are starting to change to a slightly different system which increases the free entitlement.

I expect it may be difficult to find another nursery to take her for 3 sessions only so it maybe worthwhile trying to secure another day in her existing nursery?

A pre-school would take her for 3 sessions only so therefore no extra cost (usually)
