Nurseries

Settling in during a pandemic

DS is 10.5 months and starts nursery next week (2 days per week). DH and I haven't been able to go in the nursery, and there aren't any settling in sessions available before I start work on DS's first day. I'm really worried that I'm going to drop DS off in a place I've never even been able to see in person, leave him with people I've never met, and that poor DS will cry all day and be absolutely miserable. It's such a big change from being at home with me all day every day and not seeing any other people, to going to nursery with strangers for 10 hours a day.

Any tips on getting him settled? This is so not how I pictured nursery starting...

I think its unusual to not offer any settling in sessions. It does not seem to be in the best interests of the child.

My sister and I both had babies start nursery in December 2020 and both had settling in sessions.

No setting in sessions because I needed a relatively quick start as I was offered work sooner than expected, and we are needed at a family funeral this week. Not the nursery's fault in the slightest for lack of settling in sessions, just worrying for me.
