30 hours funding - cost calculator

Hi mums there,

My 3.5 years old going preschool for four full days and getting 30 hours funding but hard to understand cost.
Before 30 hours funding I was paying for £224 (4 days*£56)
After 30 hours funding paying £162 (which I think its wrong based on my below calculator)

So not sure 30 hours really helping me.

Here is a breakdown cost I am thinking of:

The daily nursery cost - £56 (which includes food for full timers)
Food - £7 (which does not includes in 30 hours funding)

• 22 hours free a week over 51 weeks which should make around 20 hours a week which makes 2 days a week

so 2 days * (£56 + £7) = £126

why its so much difference.

anyone please help!!!

Do your nursery split the free hours over 51 weeks?
Ours doesn't, so now during term time we pay for meals only. During school holidays we pay in full for the weeks he attends. (our ds attends 3 full 10 hour days a week) if he atended 4 days we would pay in full for the extra day as a day attendance is 10 hours even if he's only there for 7 or 8.

Its knocked 60 a week off. Thats 250/month. How is thst not helping?

I would imagine you are getting 4 hrs a day if its over 52 weeks, 4 days a week. That means you are benifiting from the aprox £4 per hour that is the funded rate, and you are paying the balance.

Have called the nursery and they are splitting the free hours over 51 weeks.
so 40 hours -22 hours 21mins = 17.65 hours
17.65 hours £7.46 hourly cost which makes total £131.669 4(£7.5) food cost = £161.669

so thats why we're getting £162 weekly cost.

@QforCucumber what your nursery does its good. because currently ours charging hourly instead of daily..

daily cost is £56
hourly is £7.46 plus £7.50 food cost differnet that makes = £82.10

it is good, but also we need to make sure we remember to have the money for full fees put aside when summer comes as we have got so used to only paying £7.50/day for food!

@QforCucumber yes right but its only for 6 weeks in august and total 11 weeks in year.
