Now I know this will vary depending on the child, and DD was only 9 months when she started at nursery, so it didn't take her too long to settle. By the time she was ready to move up to the little toddlers room, she would greet and wave goodbye to the workers, and when I picked her up at the end of the day she would be making all sorts of noises and laughing etc.
Since she's moved up to the little toddlers room a month ago, she's gone mute! When she's at home and just before I drop her off, she's a right chatterbox. As soon as I drop her off she goes very shy and quiet, although she goes in quite willingly with no tears. She never says goodbye to me, and at the end of the day she runs straight to me whinging and doesn't even look at anyone when we leave, let alone wave or say goodbye.
Nursery say that she is good as gold although she doesn't interact with the other children. She sleeps and eats well there generally. My concern is that these workers don't know what she is like normally and just think she is shy, which she really isn't!
She's not old enough to be able to tell me if there is something wrong (she's seventeen months old now), I'm worried that she's no longer happy there. How long should I give it before looking at other options?
