Nursery or not?

Hi

I have 18 month old twins. My in-laws are great, they looked after the twins full time for 3 months when I returned to work to fulfil my maternity pay obligations. I start a part time, permanent job in September for 2 days a week and they have offered to do the childcare.
This is great-the twins love them, we save money and they take them to so many toddler groups, soft play etc.

Am I mad to be considering a day or 2 at nursery? They rarely play together and I'm worried about them not getting enough time with other children. My friends have older children so that's not much help!

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

You're not mad at all.
Things to think about though :

18m old twins (and 2 yr old, and 2.5 yr old) will be very hard work for 'older' people - I would include myself in this and I'm only 51..... not just "old" people, but many of us who are no longer in our youth

Lot of dc find 1 day a week at a Nursery quite difficult to settle to, as there is so long between each time they go, it;s like 'settling in' time every week

If they take them to toddler groups, then they are getting chance to play with others

Not many dc 'play together' with anyone at 18months, they are not developmentally ready to do that at this age

The toddler groups, soft play, etc will give them plenty of opportunities to mix with other children. Make sure you provide some kitty money for this.

If you want to send them to nursery a couple of days a week, to give their grandparents a break, then that's not a bad idea.
