Hello

I am blogging here to help the voices of parents in the UK to be heard on the topic of Early Childhood Education and Care - or preschool childcare and education. At the moment parents' views from the UK are not being heard in the European Commission.

I am Professor of Human Development at the University of Oxford. I have 5 children and 5 grandchildren. My work has influenced policy in the UK such as the free preschool place for every child that started in 2004.

Currently we are conducting a survey in European countries on behalf of the European Commission. The CARE project is funded by the European Commission/ European Science Foundation to look at early childhood education and care (ECEC) across Europe.

I am one of the leaders of this project, which is designed to provide information that can help policy-makers across Europe and may influence decision-making in the European Commission.

Part of the project is a study of the views of parents, policy-makers and practitioners. The more responses we get the better.

I am hoping that the parents of the UK would like to participate in this survey.

and you can find the questionnaire to be filled in, either as a parent, or a policy-maker, or as a practitioner or ECEC worker (teacher/carer/childminder/playgroup staff etc.)

It covers all kinds of ECEC from child minders, playgroups, day nurseries, children’s centres, nursery class, nursery school, kindergarten etc.

This information will help the voice of the parents in the UK be heard in Brussels. I ask for your cooperation, and emphasise your responses are anonymous.
