Does anyone split their 15 hours funding between two preschools or similar?

I'm considering splitting the funding between the current pre school my son attends and another pre school I have recently visited. He becomes eligible in January so I am yet to fill out any forms.

Is it going to become a total pain in the arse administration wise or is it pretty simple to so this? Both of these pre schools are associated with primaries but I think they are run as separate entities if that makes any difference.

Thanks

Its not that difficult to do administration wise, as long as you tell each preschool so they don't claim more than their hours
But, it might be difficult for your child. I don't see any benefit to him attending 2 settings

I split between pre-school and nursery and they are in 2 different counties and I don't have any problems with that.

Just had to make it clear what DS would be doing and where and they sorted it all out.

Depends on the child whether it's a good idea or not? Why are you doing it.

I had a child do 12 hours at the nursery attached to the school he would be attending and the other three hours and the rest of the week with me (he'd been with me since a baby).

Shouldn't be an issue, it's basically just signing a form every term to say that you accept that the setting will be applying for however many hours funding for your child so you'll just have to make them aware of how it will be split. Can I ask why you want to send him to two different pre-schools though? And also, do they both allow attendance for less than the full 15 hours as some don't want to only claim for partial funding. There are two children in my setting who attend 2 full days per week funded and then attend childminders on the other days - the childminders won't claim the funding as it's less than their hourly rate. So far it hasn't caused any issues for them attending more than one setting.

I did this when DS2 was at nursery. It wasn't an issue. Just put both settings on our form and the exact hours at each.

I did this, not that difficult as long as you can do basic maths. You may end up paying for a few extra sessions but I thought it was still excellent value for money so no complaints.

The 2 preschools were

  1. local community-run I was on committee, DS just did sheer play there, fine by me. DS went there before 3yo & was settled.
  2. Montessori all very nice & calm but I liked DS having the chaos of the other venue for a change! Plus over-subbed, so harder to get days I wanted.
