How can you see the childminder's Ofsted report online?

Hi, as you know, on the Ofsted website, in most cases, they only list the Unique Reference Number (URN) of the childminders. Ofsted said you "may be able to find out more about this childminder by contacting the local authority. They may ask you for the childminder's Unique Reference Number (URN) which you will find above."

But when I contacted my local authority (Havering, London), they said I will have to contact the childminders directly for the report. I wanted to give Havering the URN, but they said it did not matter. I have to ask the childminders themselves.

Is is the routine, or is my council lazy?

Thank you.

Not for council to provide the report, it is responsibility of the provider.

If you know the URN then Ofsted publish most reports online.

If you know the full postcode of the provider you can look up reports by distance from postcode (nearest is top of the list) though in densely populated areas it may not match exactly with the provider, thus Ofsted have asked childminders if their name/address can be included, not everyone has agreed to that.

Our children's centre give out lists of childminders with ofsted numbers on but the FIS team don't, many childminders won't give you it until you sign up with them in case of tax credits fraud but some may send you a copy with the number blanked out. I personally send it out its not my responsibility if someone tries to use my number but many are worried about it.
