Choosing a bedside crib

Hi,
I wondered if anyone has any advice about bedside cribs. Our first baby is due at the start of August and I definitely want to breastfeed if at all possible, so have been been considering something like a snuzpod, which look brilliant. My SIL has very kindly offered to give us the Bednest she used for her children, which she loved. This could save us quite a bit of money, as although we would replace the cot sides and mattress this would cost less than £100 to do and we wouldn't have to buy any sheets ect as she would give us hers, so the Bednest is definitely the cheaper option. Quite a few of my friends have used bednests too and are very positive about them.

However, when I was looking on the bednest webpage to see the cost of matresses ect I saw that they no longer make them. I googled and found that horrifically a bednest was associated with the death of a baby. Bednest have identified the fault that contributed to this death and have a pack you can order online to modify old cots to make them safe, so we could do this, but I still feel slightly uneasy about it. Don't know if I am being ridiculous though and I hate to waste things, so would like to resuse my SIL's bednest if possible. The other considerations are that I like the idea that a snuzpod can be tilted if the baby has reflux, can be rocked and that its crib can be carried through into different rooms (space it tight for us so avoiding a moses basket in our sitting room would be helpful). I also like the idea the fact that the snuzpod is slightly larger than a bednest so we might be able to keep our baby in it for a bit longer, I have heard of babies outgrowing bednests early as they are simply too tall, rather than because they learn to sit up early. Obviously as soon as they can sit up independently we will move them to a cot, but I love the idea of having them in a bedside crib for as long as possible. If necessary I don't mind spending extra to get the right crib, but don't want to waste money as we will only use it for a maximum of 6 months. The bednest is probably also a very good option, everyone I know who has used one has loved it, and we can get one very cheaply. Therefore, I just wondered if anyone had any advice on choosing between the two, or anyone would recommend a completely different bedside crib?
