Please could you recommend some new music for me?

I hardly listen to anything current - the last 'new' music I bought was the first MGMT cd, which was a few years ago now. I can't get Xfm on the car radio any more (not sure why) and I'm not a huge fan of most rap or R&B-style music, so I tend to listen to Absolute and consequently haven't heard anything new for ages. DD comes home singing lots of pop songs (Jessie J, Rhianna, Katy Perry type stuff), but I'd like to discover something good :)

Could you recommend something to me that I might like?

To give you an idea of my tastes:

Julian Cope
The Cure
JJ72
k d lang
Muse
Echo & the Bunnymen
Duran Duran
Kasabian
Tori Amos
Depeche Mode
Dandy Warhols
Divine Comedy
Boo Hewerdine
Turin Brakes
David Sylvian
Swansway
Smashing Pumpkins
Roxy Music
REM

Thanks very much, lots of new names there for me to check out.

Funnily enough another friend has recommended metronomy, so I will definitely search them out.

Saw James Blake at Latitude and wasn't hugely bowled over - I will give him another listen, though.

Is it wrong that Imelda May irritates the crap out of me simply because of how she looks? I shall have to listen to her blindfolded...

Already lurve Placebo and have liked the one song I've heard Bombay Bicycle Club do.

(Quirrel, I already possess pretty much everything Bowie and Kate Bush have recorded and like The Byrds a lot; ELO - meh. Never liked much they did after 'Out of the Blue' and after Jeff Lynne foisted the excrescence that was The Travelling Wilburys on us then did his utmost to make the Beatles sound like bad ELO (Free as a Bird, anyone?) I pretty much went off anything he was connected to)
