MNHQ would like to hear your views about the much-discussed parenting task - baby names, and how to choose them. We'd love to hear all about how you chose your child/children's name(s).

Please complete this survey - it's open to all UK MNers who have at least one child. Please answer questions for each child you have.

Here's the link again: www.surveymonkey.com/r/MNbabyname

Please add your details at the end and you'll be entered into a prize draw where one winner will get a £100 John Lewis voucher.

Thank you and good luck!

I filled in the questionnaire but didn't submit it because at the end they are asking to give both my MN username and my email.
Confused
I really don't want to link the two and I'm actually quite annoyed it's part of the questionnaire.
they shouldn't ask for both.Angry

so unless that is changed/resolved I can not sumbit my answers, sorry

Awkward when asked how many children I have - in theory I have three; 1 alive, 1 neonatal death & pregnant with DC3 - all of which we have named, so pertinent to this survey, but not so easy to state the ages of them all Confused

Normally I'd just include DS1 in survey Qs because he is my only living child so far, but thought I'd include the other DC because it gives you more data/feel that naming them was just as important :)

All MN surveys ask you to put in both as far as I know.
I guess MN has that info anyway.
I prefer it because should I ever win anything - haha - I never check my MN inbox. Also I might change my name.

We are currently expecting DC2 and haven't yet decided on a name, so some of the questions were relevant for 'second child" and some weren't so I left those blank!

zing, your account is linked to your email address anyway.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 17/07/2015 17:29

Dino yes, but it is not accessible to a third party

I have not done many surveys yet, but it's the first that asked for both details.
I just don't like it. shame.

zing, the first request for your details is for a third party, but that is optional, and I never fill that part in either.

But the last bit is on the end of every mumsnet survey, and is the info they need so they can contact you if you win the prize.

I have been filling in surveys for 3 years, and I have never received any emails from third parties as a result of the surveys, that I didn't explicitly give permission for.

zing most of them do ask for MN name and email. If that bothers you you could create a 'anon' email that you use. If it had to be your MN registered email then you wouldn't need to add it iyswim.

We're very much in the throes of debating n2

Done. Irritating usability on Android though. Every time I selected an answer the screen would automatically pull me back to the last open field 'Other' box I'd filled in. A lot of scrolling up and down just to fill out a few questions.

I also have dead baby so maybe in future surveys like this could refer to 'living children'?

For my DD, we each wrote a list of names that we liked, then we checked to see if we had a choice in common. For my DS, he arrived prematurely and so we just agreed on something by chatting.

Done.
Dh and I had a spreadsheet Blush for both dc.
We added our own choices then weekly or so went through and vetoed till we had a shortlist.
Then we waited till dc were born and gave them the one that suited them.
