Hi everyone,

We're in the midst of finding out what MNers think about technology, everything from usage and ownership to decision making and children’s technology.

We'd really appreciate it if you could take some time to let us know by completing this survey.

Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 Love2Shop voucher.

If you're interested, please click here to complete.

Thank you Flowers

Done.

I found I had to answer "not applicable" to a lot of questions because it didn't seem to reflect my household with two young adults (22 & 20) that are far more clued up on new technology than me or DH and therefore the people we would likely consult about new purchases.

I agree with KneesOfTheBee - there really needs to be an option for 'my teen/adult DC' for eg q2 (who gives key advice on choice of purchase).

Again quite a few N/A answers for the same reasons as above.

Totally agree, two young adults here also. I ask their advice and they take me shopping for technology!

Same here. I do my best but now need their help! (Two 19 year olds)

I started filling it in, but stopped as there was a long sequence of questions that didn't fit any of our circumstances - dh in tech, house full of devices that we have the use of but are also used for testing. Also my teens are more clued up than I am, but less so than dh, so much of the feature-related decision making is done by them, with dh having the final say.

Is this the same one the panel had a few weeks ago, or a new version?

Questions didn't work well for me. Its the EX partner DSs dad who helps with technology . and paying for it.

Done. Same as for others - it didn't really offer the option of "my teens advise me"
Also, quite different answers for an 11 yr old, from your 18 yr old - that's a huge range of 'responsibility' levels to be putting together.

Done. Made me really think about how much DH does when we buy this sort of stuff, bless him.

And yeah, 'future technical support' should be added to the list of reasons why having a baby is a good idea...

Agree with PP re children being much more involved in their purchases and/or family purchases. I'd imagine most 16-18yr olds would be doing their own research at least, if not their owning buying.

The survey assumes you have young children who and that adults make the decisions - our teenagers are the ones who do the research on what to buy, not us adults!
