Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

scan to confirm mmc tomorrow

My GP was a bit vague and said that when the mmc is confirmed at the scan they may just go ahead and do erpc or may make an appt for later in the week.

I feel a bit nervous and wondered if it is likely that it will happen tomorrow. Don't you have to have 'nil by mouth' for a while before an erpc?

I would appreciate some reassurance so that I can prepare myself that it will/won't take place tomorrow. Also is there anything I should take to the hospital with me?

Also feeling sad because just called to cancel ante-natal appts and was asked the reason why...

Oh waspylady, I'm so sorry. You would have to be nil by mouth for a while I would have thought. They will probably book you in for another day, hopefully very soon.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help as no experience of mmc, but wish you well for tomorrow.

I do know however how dreadful it is to have to cancel appointments, and to have to explain the reason.

Look after yourself and ((((hugs)))).

Hi WASPYLADY sorry to hear about your loss.I ve had 2 miscarriages 1 MMC last October which i had medical management for and my latest last week. Was diagnosed at the scan last Tues and went in to hospital the day after for ERPC.

I found the ERPC to be much less stressful and traumatic than the medical management.I was informed to be nil by mouth from food from 02.30am and clear fluids from 05.30am i was admitted at 06.30am had my op about 09.30am and once had eaten and passed urine home for about 2pm.

It should all happen asap for you the last thibg you need is to in a state of limbo before you can start your grieving process.Last year i had to wait a week from the scan of my MMC to being admitted for the medical management.

Take some magazines or books to occupy yourself while your waiting.I knew i would be up and about asap as im a nurse and hate being on the other side we tend to make the worst patients!!!!

Hope all goes as well as can be expected..

I wouldn't expect to get the ERPC the same day

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like it almost certainly won't happen tomorrow so at least I can be prepared.

Had a scan on 1st Sept when I should have been 7+5 but no heartbeat. Had to go abroad in meantime and am desperate to get it sorted out now so that I can get back on with ttc.........
