tampons in mc?

Probably a silly question - I am bleeding at 5+2 and assuming this is end of pg. Is advice not to use tampons?

I don;t have any sanitary towels and I hate them and their smell.

Any thoughts?

Hi ilbam so sorry for what you are going thru and yes i am afraid you cannot use tampons and have to use towels, I hate them too and am going thru a mc atm and it's horrible how visual it is every time you go to change, sorry if tmi. I think there is a risk of infection if you use tampons but hopefully someone will come along soon who can give you the actual reason. Take care

Sorry to hear that you're having a horrible time. I was told not to use tampons as the cervix may open slightly when miscarrying and therefore the risk of infection is greater. I found using towels difficult as blood seems heavier when you see it, but it should only be for a short while, and you can go back to tampons for your next period.

Hope that helps. Take care of yourself x

Sorry to hear your news ilbam and hope you are ok. Unfortunately tampons are a no no during a miscarriage due to the increased risk of infection.

Hi Ibam, as the other ladies have said its a def no to tampons, but the bleeding may not necessarily mean you are miscarrying. I bled for weeks in my first pg and had a healthy boy and have also bled in subsequent pregnancies where the bleeding didnt lead to a miscarriage but was a clot next to the sac. (Happened that I did lose them later in the pg). Hope you are ok.

x
