Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

V. early miscarriage - do I need to do anything?

I think I'm having a very early miscarriage - basically 3 days after my period was due. I had a BFP test on Sunday and began bleeding (with clots) and light cramps this morning after feeling a bit feverish last night and this morning. All pg hunger pangs have disappeared.

My question is, do I need to let a HCP know/get checked over or as it's so early do I just get on with life? I'm away from home for the next few weeks so to see a HCP would be a bit more awkward than usual.

I also know that some bleeding in pg can be common, so do the cramps confirm mc?

Sorry to hear this.

I have had 2 early miscarriages this year and each time it has been a missed miscarriage. Basically I had the bleeding after I knew that the pregnancy had ended.

Now, I don't want you to get your hopes up, but when I was 8 weeks pregnant with my DS (now 20 months) I had a very heavy bleed with several large clots. I took myself off for a scan and the scan showed a healthy baby with a heartbeat.

I know it is hard, but I would advise waiting a week or so and then re-testing.

It is a bit of a 'wait-and-see' time, I'm afraid. Many women do get bleeding just around the time of their first period and this can be very light or seem like a proper period.

If it is a mc - you don't have to do anything at this stage (apart from be very kind to yourself) but you might want it 'on paper' that you have had a miscarriage for future notes.

As long as you have no pain to one side, fainting or shoulder-tip pain, and the bleeding stops within the week then there may be no reason to see anyone. Your body is doing what it needs to do.

It might just be an idea to speak to a midwife or EPU on the phone who can tell you what to expect and what to look out for?

Take it easy.

have had a missed miscarriage (though was at about 7 weeks so a bit later than you)-there was quite a lot of blood (like a very heavy period) and cramping too.

But am not sure what to expect at this even earlier stage- tbh have been wondering if am going through the same thing myself-had +ve test on tuesday then a bit of a bleed. Bleeding has stopped now though so am not sure.

Fingers crossed for you

thanks for all your advice. Still bleeding quite heavily but cramps have calmed down a bit. Getting hot again though. I'll see how things go, but llareggrub I'm pretty sure it's a mc. A big disappointment, as I'm sure you all know. However, it's comforting to know that our bodies protect non-viable babies this way. I'll let you know next week if I get a +ve test again!
