Baby age gaps - miscarriage

Hi all,

I had my first in December after 6 years of heart ace and three miscarriages. In a ideal world I would love a two year age gap between my first and second. I have this really big sort of anxiety fear that I’m going to wait a year, start trying again and then have a miscarriage or several then end up with a 5/6 year age gap. I know it seems extreme! All you ever hear about is after a baby how fertile you are, is it stupid of me to not be on contraception?
I understand there could be an argument here of if I did fall pregnant and it was a successful pregnancy that it’s too soon ! Not fair on my first.
If it happens it happens I’m just scared.
Every day I tell my 8 week old (whilst welling up) how much I love her, how much I wished for her and long I waited for her.

Please be kind xx
Thanks xxx

Hi,
I'm in a similar position to you and I completely understand where you're coming from! Had my first early last year after 5 losses.
We also want a two year age gap so we'd need to start trying again soon to achieve that. I can't believe how quickly it's come around.
I know I could possibly have losses again, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there. I had frequent scans when I was pregnant with DD. I just keep thinking about what I'd do if I was with her at an early scan and heard bad news, I don't want her to see me upset.
But we've survived this far, I'm sure we'll survive whatever comes next.
Enjoy your lovely baby and only you and your partner can decide if you'd be ready for another baby really soon. Either way, your baby will adjust to whatever your family looks like.
Good luck whatever you decide! xx
