Medical miscarriage - is it done?

I'm so sorry, this is TMI. Started bleeding and cramping last night, knew I was miscarrying (one bad scan, all symptoms gone away) went to the EPU. Baby stopped developing two weeks ago so decided to have a medical miscarriage as I just want it done.

Took the misoprostol at 1730 then had a really scary hour of shivering and cramps. They eased up and I kind of dozed on the sofa for an hour. I just stood up and something....fell out of me, I didn't want to look so just went to the toilet and flushed it away.

Is that it? I know noone on here can know for sure but although the first hour was bad but I thought it would all be so much worse...

Sorry. Just need a handhold, it's been a shit day.

It really is shit, I'm so sorry that you're going through this. I don't have any real answers for you as everyone's experiences seem to be different. I've definitely read some that for some women it is over that quickly, I really hope that's the case for you and it's all done and you can start to recover.

Be kind to yourself

Hi, I don't want to come across negative as I really hope that's it for you....but I had similar and unfortunately it wasn't done. I had to have a d&c about ten days later. I was having severe pain though for about a week so they rescanned me and about 4cm was left behind. I think of no pain and bleeding tails off you will be fine. Also, it took a month after the d&c for me to get a negative test so try not to worry if that happens too.
Hope it all works out ok for you xxx

Oh, don't worry about being negative, that's really helpful to know. It's all been such a disaster start to finish that I think I'm convinced this will be too 🤦🏼‍♀️

Thank you both for your kind wishes - they're so appreciated x

Hi, I had a similar experience. I had the medical management and had bad pains for around 6 hours with a lot of clotting. I then bled for 2 weeks. I am now just over 4 weeks with a clear scan but test still showing positive - due to pregnancy hormone slowly coming down. I’ve started bleeding very lightly again so potentially a period. Hope you’ve stopped bleeding by now x

Hi I'm.so sorry for what's happened. Like the other ladies have said it really is shit. I had the same treatment but had to have it in hospital. It happened 2 days before my 30th birthday when I should of been in Barcelona. From my experience it lasted 2-3 hours. I had 45 minutes of cramping and what the called as contractions. I felt a gush of some thing which was my waters and then the baby came out pretty soon after. A day later I passed quite a big clot but that was it. I bled for 7 days and I was 11 weeks. How you choose to handle this situation is completely up to you and there is no wrong way. I hope you recover quickly. Xx
