Confused with scan results, please help

Hi all, totally new here so bare with me if I’ve done this wrong at all! I’m currently 5 weeks 3 days pregnant, I went for an early scan due to blood loss in a previous twin blighted ovum miscarriage and also giving birth to my son. The sonographer said the gestational sack was an abnormal shape, no yolk sack or fetal pole present. I get I am early but I saw my son at 5 weeks strong heartbeat and yolk sack (I get all pregnancies are different) she told me it’s more than likely that nature will take its course but I have to go back next Wednesday to make sure. I have had dull period pains but no bleeding at all. Has anyone experienced anything similar and do you have any advice please what the outcome could be or what is wrong with me? Thank you

I was in a similar situation. Too early, no sac. They were checking my blood every two days to see the hcg level. It was growing at first but eventually it dropped and the bleeding began. So then I had to deal with a miscarriage. Fingers crossed, OP, it is just too early for you and the heartbeat still appears! As you have just said all pregnancies are different.

Thanks so much for responding. I know, it’s really sad and confusing! If you don’t mind me asking. How far along were you, and when did the bleeding start after you were told the same? It feels like I’m waiting forever! It’s torture x

My hcg level got to 4000 and then dropped to 3000. It was 6 weeks. The bleeding was developing slowly with just spotting first. It took me over a week to start bleeding "properly". Sorry, these are awful details and maybe it is even unnecessary for you to consider this. Hope all will be fine!

Thankyou for sharing that with me, it’s ok I appreciate the honesty. If I’m honest I don’t want to sound bleak but I’m pretty much in touch with my body and got a feeling this one isn’t going to work out, I said it to the lady before she scanned me. Let’s hope it’s one of life’s miracles x

Oh re the body. I didn't feel pregnant. It was my third pregnancy (one successful) so I knew what to expect. This time there were no symptoms and yes, as you say, I also didn't have a bond with the baby even though I made myself talk to it and think positively. Sad 😕

That’s exactly me right now, this is also my third pregnancy and one successful so far. I know, I think we don’t bond as a defence mechanism to avoid being hurt even more. I DID feel pregnant, but I don’t any more either. It’s crap! I’ve started with hip pain today too which is odd x

Morning, I’ve lost some bright red blood this morning and I’m slowly bleeding now. It was inevitable. Thankyou again for your advice xx

I think I'm in a similar boat

My LMP was 26th May ,EDD 1st March 20

I tested positive on 16th June ( almost 7 weeks ago )

I had a previous miscarriage so they were keeping on eye on this pregnancy

Had an early scan and bloods on 1st July - scan showed a small yolk sac - bloods doubled from 2300 to over 4000

Had my rescan yesterday (19th July ) I'm only measuring approx 5 weeks with low FHR :-/

According to my dates I should be 7/8 weeks by now

The sonographer wasn't sure if it's a viable pregnancy and have asked for another rescan in a week

My symptoms are non existent, I'm confused and just want this over with so I can either start again or just focus on something else

No sight of blood - just period pains

Hi Rumi1, I’m so sorry to hear this. I have stopped bleeding it was really short and not heavy at all and I have period pains too but no bleeding now, I don’t feel pregnant at all! I’ve got to go back on Wednesday for a re scan. It’s so confusing and the wait is super frustrating. I too have had a previous twin miscarriage blighted ovum and my body held on to them for 6 weeks! I’d rather just be told straight than kept waiting..
