Worried about blood loss with my miscarriage - should I go to A&E?

How quickly did you go through the pad?

I'd had it on for an hour or so, but felt it gushing out and that's what I found when I went to the loo. So it filled it like that in a few minutes.

More than a pad an hour and you should go to a&e. Following the 'gush', has the bleeding settled down at all?

I'm in the bath to calm myself down a bit. Will put a fresh pad on after and monitor that after an hour. Was a horrible sensation.

It may come and go like that - at my worst during a miscarriage of a 12 week pregnancy It was every 15 mins for about an hour - it kind of peaked and then settled down - I guess from start to finish it took about 12 hours but I was pretty far along in my pregnancy?
I would try and wait it out if you can? I have done 3 mc at home because the thought of having to keep running to the loo in a hospital waiting room scared me more - not to mention the car ride over there and at this time of night EPUs won't be open so you'd have to go to a&e and wait to be seen - I had to wait 4 hours in a&e during my first mc and wouldn't recommend it x

Already been bleeding for nine days at heavy period level so was quite shocked to see that.

Was only 9+4 when miscarriage was confirmed.

Don't really fancy A&E on a Friday night as you say...

Is someone with you? I had my mum with me who thought it was helpful to write down the time to the minute every time I ran to the loo!

During some of my earlier miscarriages I bled for longer - about a week or so - it may be that you are gearing up to pass the sac or deciduous caste (the uterine lining may shed all in one go) - once that has come away the bleeding should decrease dramatically - sorry to sound so clinical but there isn't really a good way of describing it x

I didn't have medical management with any and they were all natural miscarriages - all slightly different and different durations but generally all had same pattern - bleeding for several days before peaking when had really bad cramps for a few hours and had lots of gushing blood with clots. Baths are good as they help to relax the muscles to let the body naturally try and do what it needs to x

I'm so sorry OP, you might be in the absolute worst but just now and it could settle in a few hours. In my experience A&E is an awful place to be with a MC but obviously you must go if it carries on for too long.

Perhaps monitor it just for the next couple of hours if you can and then go in if it's not slowing down.

Sudden gush and heavy bleeding 9 days after is exactly what happened to me when I had retained products and an infection. You may need antibiotics and a D&C. Call 111. Hope you’re doing okay

Hi,
This was mine from earlier in the year. Although the heavy bleeding and clots only lasted an hr or so. When I got to hospital they didn’t seen to concerned, they just put me on a drip. Sorry for your loss hun xx

I bled for five weeks after a mc at 9 weeks. It was sporadically flooding through jeans and then less,then more and so on. Absolutely awful but everytime I rang the hospital they said that was normal. I did haemorrhage after both full term pregnancies so guess some people maybe just bleed more than others.
