Clot or embryo?

I'm about 6+3 and have had spotting since Saturday. I was a bit concerned so I went to the EPU yesterday and they did a scan and found a heartbeat. Everything seemed fine. But I just went to pee and when I wiped there was a weird clot that looks like an embryo. I don't even know if it's possible to miscarry without painful cramps or lots of blood but it's got me worried. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? My DH is abroad for work so I'm home alone and trying not to panic. I tried to add a phot but my phone is playing up.

I've no experience at all but does look like it's possible. Hope your ok. Can you go to the docs or EPU first thing tomorrow?

The embryo is meant to be tiny at 6+3, hopefully it's just a clot. Can you go back to the EPU?

I passed a 6 week foetus intact just like that.
Sorry for your loss op.
If you feel out of your depth please get checked out.

I do see what you mean from the photo, but it's impossible to tell from just a photo, and like you say, I really would expect there to have been cramps and bleeding. Maybe it is just a redundant bit of endometrium?

Definitely keep in (wrapped up, in fridge) overnight, and go and get checked out tomorrow.

Thank you all for your messages. I'm waiting for a dr to call me but I suspect they will just say go to the EPU in the morning. My gut tells me it's going to be bad news. I had a missed miscarriage in September so this would be my second.

Only thing I'd say is if it is the embryo it looks larger than 6 weeks. Sorry you're going through this op. Thanks

@Aprilshowersarecomingsoon I'm sorry to hear about your mc. Did you have heavy bleeding as well when you passed the embryo?

So sorry you this is happening. I just miscarried at 9 weeks but had already been told by EPU that embryo was only measuring 5-6 weeks. Although I had some cramping on the first two days of bleeding (not heavier than a period) then the bleeding slowed down and I passed the featus on 4th day with no cramping. It is hard to tell from the photo but mine looked a bit similar but darker with a stringy bit. Rescaned today at EPU and told everything had passed. I hope you get a swift appointment tomorrow and reassurance/support. I was away at a work event when it started and is a scary thing to go through even when not painful. Flowers

Im really sorry op but that looks like a gestational sac, keep it in some cooled boiled water as the doctors will want to see it

Obviously I may be wrong and i really hope I am for your sake.

Sending unmumsnetty hugs ThanksThanksThanks

I’m so sorry OP, it does seem likely that you are miscarrying, given what you describe & your dates.

However the fact the scan showed a heartbeat only yesterday is positive - all you can do is return to be checked again.

What you show / describe is unlikely to be a foetus though - it’s just too early & at miscarriage the foetal matter breaks down. This is a clot, for whatever reason is happening.

Wishing you the very best tomorrow.

Not sure if it was because I already had dc (and have given birth) but I had timeable contractions for a few hours and an urge to push. Bleeding quickly subsided and stopped within a few days.

Sorry, but that isn't true. I miscarried an 8 week old foetus, completely intact and in its gestational sac. It is quite common.

Turns out it was a clot! I feel stupid for worrying now. My pregnancy is continuing normally. Thank you everyone for your support.

I'm so happy to hear that, and absolutely no need to feel stupid for worrying, much better to be over cautious.

littlecabbage I'm very sorry about that. That is very unusual before 10 weeks, in the OP's case, at 6+ weeks, I'd say it would have been impossible (and thankfully all is well for her, which is great news).
