Miscarriage without clots?

I know everyone will be different, but has anyone had a miscarriage without any clots?

I had a scan on Wednesday following some bleeding and although I should’ve been 8 weeks all they saw was an empty gestational sac. Since then the bleeding has increased and yesterday was quite heavy (but only about as heavy as my heaviest day of a regular period) and the pain was the worst I’ve ever had in my life. I went to the out of hours doctor who gave me a prescription for painkillers. She didn’t examine me but blood pressure, heart rate and temp were all fine.

Anyway, today I’m in a lot less pain, and there is a lot less blood. I’ve not passed any clots at all, even yesterday when pain and bleeding was at its worst. Because there was just the gestational sac, is it possible that I’m over the worst of it and just didn’t have any noticeable clots (it’s possible some small ones came out when I’ve been on the toilet, without me noticing I guess), or is it likely to get worse again? Did anyone else have bleeding/pain that came and went like this? I’m worried that it stopping without me passing any clots means I will need medical intervention to finish the miscarriage which id prefer to avoid.

Could the baby have possibly been lost earlier and only just misscarrying now? That would mean it would be a lot smaller?

From my experience I've had heavy bleeding at first and then it does ease off

I agree with princessbala, when I miscarried I bled heavily for 10 days and the other 4 it got lighter but I did pass the baby and clots

Hi, I don't mean to scare you, but inform you. I've had a miscarriage followed by only light bleeding (and no clots). The menstruations I had after contained the clots and tissue. Are you planning to TTC immediatly? If I were you I'd get a scan to see if your uterus is empty (and ready to conceive again) or wait for the next cycle so everything has surely passed.

Thanks for the replies. I actually had another scan on Friday where they did say everything had gone so I guess it was all just earlier than I thought maybe.
