Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

7 weeks but no heart beat and measuring at 5 weeks 4 days

I had my implant removed on 5th April but didn't have a period and then had my first positive pregnancy test on 10th May. I have been for a few early scans due to some bad cramps at the beginning of the pregnancy but my HCG levels were doubling as they should at the beginning. The first two scans it has been to early to really see anything apart from a sac and then a yolk on 23rd of May. At the scan today where I was expecting to be 7 weeks, I've only measured at 5 weeks 4 days and no sign of a heart beat. I have got to return in a weeks time to confirm that this is no longer an ongoing pregnancy. I haven't had any bleeding or anything to suggest miscarriage.

Has anybody else experienced anything like this?

Thank you xx

That happened to me in my first pregnancy and it ended up being a mmc. However I was certain on my dates as had been tracking ovulation so knew there was something up. Seeing as you didn't have a period after having the implant removed there could be some discrepancy?

I thought the same but as I had my first positive on the 10th May I think it's impossible for me to only be 5 weeks 4 days if that makes sense?

Yes that does make sense. It's very tough. The waiting part especially. In a way the two weeks I had to wait between scans to have it confirmed was the time I took to accept what had happened and prepare for the news as I was just so sure about the dates. I think not knowing for sure is so hard as you still hold on to hope. Will you have someone going with you to the scan? xx

Yes I will have my boyfriend with me but you are right about the waiting. Did you go on to have a successful pregnancy after your MMC? xx

Good, I'm glad you have someone with you. Sadly not. My next pregnancy has just ended in another MMC later on but I know a lot of women who do go onto have a healthy pregnancy after one miscarriage so please have hope for next time.xx

I had two in a row very similar to this. I agree with a pp, the 1-2 week wait between scans gave me time to come to terms with it not being a viable pregnancy. I had a spontaneous miscarriage just before my follow-up scan in both cases.

I did go on to have a successful pregnancy after this (although had a number of unrelated complications). I also had testing after my 3rd miscarriage which picked up a couple of things so was on a few meds as soon as I got a positive result/saw a heartbeat the next time.

So sorry if this turns out not to work out for you. Wishing you lots of luck.

Thanks for your replies. The week has definitely helped come to terms with things, sort of waiting for it all to be done with now and fingers crossed for next time xx
