Hi,

I have had a late period this month so decided to take a pregnancy test a week ago, it said negative however an hour later it turned to positive really lightly. I took the second one in the pack and it said negative, but just to be sure I took another one from a different make and it also said negative but then turned positive really lightly about 3 hours later. By the next day I think the one that said negative had a really slight positive line (although it may of been me driving myself crazy). However I took these as positives and rang an appointment at bpas to talk about my options for tuesday coming (3 days time).

I found out I was pregnant in March and the tests came up really lightly then as well, I was not ready for this so I booked a medical abortion, however before my appointment I miscarried at 5 weeks which was confirmed in a scan. Since then I have not had unprotected sex, I have been on the pill however I wanted to get a period so I came off it and started using condoms instead so I could be extra certain, so I must be the most unlucky person in the world if I am/was pregnant! However I do take sertraline, so maybe that cancelling the pill out might make sense? That's the only possibility I can think of.

In the past week I have definitely felt pregnant, I had sore boobs, morning sickness, needed a wee all the time, tired, and a few days ago I had some light brown/pink spotting (I heard this was normal).

Yesterday morning I woke up to what seemed like a period, for about half an hour I had a really bad pain in my belly so I rang 111 and said I thought I was having a miscarriage. They suggested I go to the walk in center for pain killers etc however as soon as I got off the phone the pain went away. Since then I have not had any bad pain, just cramp like I would get if it was a period. The blood is quite heavy and it seems to be sinking to the bottom of the toilet, however I haven't passed any big clots or anything?

I can't tell if I'm having a miscarriage, there's definitely way too much blood for me to still be pregnant and I also don't 'feel' pregnant anymore, I've lost all the other symptoms. But I have had a miscarriage before and it was a lot worse than this, the blood was thicker and I was in so much pain I needed codeine to help. I am not in even 1/4 of as much pain now and the blood is fine(ish), I mean a lot does come out when i go to the toilet and I can't see a lot of it as it seems to be more when I am going to the toilet, I guess I just thought if it was a miscarriage it would be like A LOT of blood?

I am still going to the clinic on tuesday so will hopefully find out then but does anyone have any help or a similar experience to put my mind at rest? I am absolutely terrified of getting an abortion and never wanted it to be something I had to do, so although having a miscarriage is absolutely heartbreaking, I would feel slightly better knowing it was naturally happening and I wouldn't have to go through getting the abortion pill.

please help, thanks!! :)

Hi, sorry you are feeling rubbish, but you did 3 test that said negative, and only positive outside of the window time, which would suggest you aren’t pregnant. The delay and change or symptoms could just be your body finding a routine since to stopped the pill. I know stopping my pill I had a pattern for a few months then one month I was 2 weeks late then then next I was early.

Sorry I can’t be much more help xxx

Hmm, I think that if the tests were so faint and so far outside of the window in which they should be read (I think it's usually about 10 mins), they were probably negative. By the time your period is late I imagine that most, though not all, women would have a pretty clear positive within the correct time frame.

Thank you both for your replies!

The reason I took the tests as positive is because they did this last time I was pregnant, they even did it when I did one at the doctors and the nurse put it down as negative and then she realised it was positive over 10 minutes later and she said it had never happened before! A week later I had a scan and was pregnant

The morning sickness/sore boobs were also before I did the test and I didn’t even link them to being pregnant, I was confused as to why I was feeling/being sick every morning, so I know I couldn’t of been giving myself the symptoms :/

2 days later and I’ve now passed a few small clots, nothing horrendous however there was something about the size of a pea?

Do you think that it is a miscarriage?

Again thank you so much for your help, always great to hear any reply to know someone cares :) xxx
