Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Passed huge tissue/clot...wtf?

Not my first post here; it's been a challenging few months.

After nearly five weeks of bleeding during this af (my second after mc: D&C in early April), I started progesterone on Friday to try to curb the bleeding. Yesterday evening I had the worst cramps/pain I've had in nearly eight years (since the contractions for my sons birth). Threw up, they were so painful.

This morning, they'd lessened a bit and when I went to the loo, I think I found out why. (Warning, a huge dose of TMI coming.)

I passed an enormous clot. It's not just blood; it's like tissuey... almost the consistency of a hard sponge. It's the size of a gold ball, maybe bigger. (Yes; I inspected it... sorry...🤢.. in fact, I've kept it. I know; sorry! So gross, but I kept thinking, what if someone wants to do a biopsy to figure out what it is...).
Has anyone had anything like this? Should I take it to my gp? Or just get rid and hope that's the last of it? Could it be the original placenta from back in march? I absolutely know I haven't been pregnant again, because I've been ovulation testing since may, and it would surely have triggered that if I were pregnant.

I just don't know what else it could be! No wonder the bleeding went on so long; I kind of feel better today- cramping gone and bleeding a little subsided...but should I be worried?

hi - me again! :) I have been passing huge clots too - like the size of my palm but when I was at hospital they said it isnt possible that it would be anything left from the miscarraige. If you've had one period already that would have gotten rid of it. They also said if there was any tissue left over I would be seriously ill and infected now. I lost loads of clots - horrific but apparently its normal!
You just want it to stop though dont you!

@clairebee2003
So, I am feeling totally elated today. Not only has all the cramping stopped, and the bleeding reduced, but my mood seems to be unrecognisably improved...it's as though my body just went "and...it's over 😅"

Phone EPU and they've actually said that apparently in a very few cases, a pregnancy test can show negative if product is left behind after a D&C, and based on my description to the EPU nurse (and a pretty gross google image search if possible contenders what what this could have been) and the number of weeks pg I was at the time of the D&C, we've come to the collective conclusion that it's entirely possible I just finally passed the placenta.

I didn't even know that was possible, but there we go.

Anyway, I now feel more positive than I have in weeks! Hopefully af calms down now, cycle comes back online and I'll be back to ttc again in no time!! 😀
