Hi I'm after some advice and other people's stories really.

On Wednesday this week I took a test in the morn as I was due on the Monday and for the past week or so I've had bad back, felt sick, boobs sore and headaches. Was unsure if it would be positive as I've had 2 kids and never experienced symptoms this early. Anyway the test said positive but only a faint line, I took a following one in the afternoon and it said negative. I assumed I was very early so hcg levels weren't high enough to show in the afternoon.
The following morning I used a clear blue with date indicator and it said pregnant 1-2 weeks. Me and my parter were so happy.
Then on Thursday afternoon I started having brown blood when I went to the toilet so I panicked a little although with my first I had a full period before testing so I knew it could just he normal or implantation bleeding I rang my docs as I hadn't been to tell them as only found out definite that day. I got a call back from early pregnancy unit who asked me to come in the following morning (Friday) to do blood tests to see where my levels are.
So Friday morning I woke up and the bleeding had got heavier, turned bright red and started getting pains either side of my abdomen.
So we went to the hospital and they did the blood test. She took a pregnancy test there and it said negative altho I did one that morning at home and it said positive.
After what seemed forever they phoned back later that day and said my levels are only 42 so I'm either extremely early or I'm having a miscarriage. All I can do is wait a week and do another test at home and if it says positive to go back.

I'm expected to sit here for a week. In pain still bleeding and now clotting, test each morning still saying positive. Is there nothing anyone can do to find out if I'm still pregnant or definitely loosing it?
If I am having a miscarriage how do I know when it's all gone or if I get an infection? The hospital really don't seem to care I know they see these cases day in day out so they have to not care really. But they didn't offer me to come in in a few days for anothet blood test to see if my levels are rising just sit at home and wait a week. I'm going out of my mind!!!!

Hi sorry you are experiencing this but the sad truth is that unless they suspect an ectopic pregnancy there is nothing that can be done.

From experience, the bleeding and pains may increase until the pregnancy comes away. Also from experience, you may still have a positive pregnant test up until 2 weeks after the pregnancy has ended, there is very little point in doing daily tests, they do not give you any meaningful information. Pregnancy hormones hang around for quite some time after miscarriage is completed.

Do you have any painkillers you can take?
The hospital probably won't repeat bloods more frequently as the results can be misleading and there is little point.

This may be ok, it really is a case of waiting it out.

Infection will show itself as an unpleasant smelling discharge, pain, fever, feeling unwell.

The pain itself isn't too bad it's just like usual period cramping with few more painful twinges here and there. But I had these pains early on with both of my other pregnancies. So it's just the bleeding and clots that makes me believe I am loosing it.
No one seems to have much hope including the hospital so I guess will have to follow procedure and wait it out.

So do you think if I take another test on Friday a week after the blood test and 9 days after finding out it will still say positive? I'm taking the clear blue date indicators so surely if I take one on Friday and instead of saying 1-2 like it has done, but instead says 2-3 surely my levels are getting higher so the pregnancy is continuing?

I'm sorry you're going through a stressful time. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do but wait and it's awful, I've been there. I had to wait 10 days between being told I had probably lost my twins and being told i had definitely lost them. They were the most stressful 10 days and actually worse in a way than when I knew for sure. One thing I learnt was that you need to look after yourself as either way, whether you are having a mc or you are pregnant, you are the one that is going through it and you must put yourself first. Rest, keep a hot water bottle close and distract yourself with whatever you can. Distraction was about the only thing that got me through. Test when the doctor's told you because they told you to test then for a reason. Testing before will just add to your anxiety and it will not make you feel better. I wish you the best of luck with this Flowers

I did a test today and it's come back not pregnant. So guess it must have gone. Guess it's just one of those things you can't control.

Oh i'm so sorry OP. It is one of those things you can't control but it's bloody awful so make sure you take some time out to process and recover. There are so many of us who have been there as well to talk to if that's what you need. You might not, do what you feel is necessary to get yourself back on the road to recovery. Best of luck for the future. Please don't hesitate to look here for support Flowers
