First period after Miscarriage

Hi, this is my first time posting on anything like this but I need a bit of advice/comfort. I had a miscarriage in December when I was 8 weeks pregnant on our first child. We decided to try again as soon as we could. For the last two weeks we haven't been using protection and today I came on my period. I'm really confused to how and am now worried that I might not be able to conceive which I know may seem silly but lots of thoughts going through my head! Has this happened to anyone else?xx

Sorry about your miscarriage. I miscarried just before Christmas at 8 weeks, and got my first period today.

All it means is that you haven't conceived this month. Did you fall pregnant first time last time? It may be that you didn't ovulate when you anticipated you would - I don't appear to have ovulated at all since my mc, but I'm not worrying.

In some ways getting my period has reassured me that everything is working again, so we'll start trying again this month. It took six months for me to conceive after my last mc (I was 40 though, not sure how old you are?)

There are so many variables. Please don't worry just because you didn't get pregnant again instantly, bodies and hormones are pretty unpredictable at the best of times. I know it's difficult to trust your body after it's let you down, but I'm sure you'll get pregnant again soon. Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. Our last pregnancy was a surprise so we aren't really sure when we conceived last time. Yeah that's true never thought that having my period means everything is working again! I'm tracking my ovulation now so fingers crossed. Thank you for your reassurance it has really helped! Good luck to you too 😊 xx

Hello
I couldn't figure out how to create my own post so I've tagged onto this one, hope you don't mind!
I had a missed miscarriage in November 2016 and had an ERPC on 14/11, 40 day's after the op AF arrived....I am now waiting for my second period, it's been 30 days. Does anyone know how long it will take and if my cycle will go back to normal soon. Would love to TTC again! Hate all of this waiting!!
Thank you x

Hi I'm new to this but I was just wondering if any one could advise me on what to do, I had a early miscarriage over 2 months ago it was a big shock and disappointment as I already have a 4 year old son so I was very excited at the prospect of him having a brother or sister so when I started bleeding after a week of finding out it was a big shock as I just presumed everything would go fine like the first time! It messed with my head a bit as my heart was already 9 months down the line but because I wasn't that far along I felt I hadn't the right to grieve. I'm now 9 weeks on with no period, nausea everyday sore boobs on and off but instead of being excited I'm scared and worried after what happened.. how long is too long after a miscarriage to still not have a period? Thanks ladies xx

hiya, my situation is similar to Jessccj17
I was told over a year ago that I wouldn't be able to have children then I feel pregnant almost a year to the day after. i had a miscarriage on christmas eve but i still haven't had a period, they told me it should be within 6 weeks so it should be in the next few days.
I feel like I'm just getting my hopes up again. Any advice would be much appreciated xx

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I had a D&C back in November and my period came 40 days after, so nearly 7 weeks. Hang in there! I know it's easier said than done though! 💕
I called my doctor after 6 weeks without a period and then 4 days later it arrived, I think speaking to the doctor really helped me and then my body kicked in and AF came! I've now had my second period since D&C (36 day cycle this time) so still longer than normal as I was always 28-30 days before. Sending hugs xx

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage Sad. I would do a pregnancy test as 9 weeks is quite a long time. When I called my doctor after 6 weeks (post D&C) with no period they requested I do a pregnancy test - if it was negative I was told to wait another week for my period to arrive or if it was possitive I needed to call the doctor back. Sending hugs 💕

So saddened to read this thread. Just wanted to add some hope to you all.

We had a missed miscarriage at 10weeks in 2014.. it was 2weeks before our wedding day.. it takes a long long time to get over the sadness and shock. For us it was an unexpected pregnancy and I feared we wouldn't be able to conceive again.
My period came around 6weeks after the d&c and although we didn't actively try (I just didn't feel ready) I can say that every period after that had all the hallmarks of pregnancy (evil that the symptoms are the same 😢) and every time I let myself believe I was. It's a hard stark reminder each month and you need to be kind to yourselves.. def stock up on loads of cheap preg tests so that your not wondering for longer than needed each month & def keep talking n lean on your other halves for support.

I started to worry we wouldn't ever get pregnant and went to speak to the doctor about it but a friend recommended taking pregnacare conception pills (his&hers) and using the clear blue digital ovulation test.. it worked in the second month of taking and a year to the day I got pregnant again.. it will happen, when the time is right but try not to fixate as each month then becomes a heart ache.. I mention the pills and test as three people I know have all got pregnant after using for a couple of months and I just hope this helps. Best of luck to you all and stay strong, life can be cruel sometimes but I hope the next time is a positive one for you xxx
