Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Attending a fertility clinic for recurrent miscarriage when already pregnant again

I have recently had two very early miscarriages and I have been referred to a private fertility clinic. My appointment is this week but I did a pregnant test this morning at CD23 and it was positive. I'm unsure what to do about my appointment; it seems like it will probably be a waste of time and money (quite a bit of money!) to attend for an initial consultation at a fertility clinic when I am already pregnant; on the other hand, could they do something to help this one stick and will I regret cancelling if I have a bad outcome over the next week or two? I am already under the care of an ob/gyn so I will be seeing him during the next week. Has anyone else been in this position?

This happened to a friend of mine. She was waiting for an appointment at the recurrent miscarriage clinic on the NHS and she fell pregnant when she wasn't supposed to be even trying. She went to the appointment when she was 6 weeks. They couldn't do any tests but prescribed progesterone and baby aspirin - and that was a successful pregnancy!

I know it's different to your situation as hers was the NHS - but I thought this story would give you hope.

Fingers crossed for a sticky one this time for you.

I was also going to say they may prescribe quarter aspirin per day, high concentration folic acid and perhaps some progesterone or as I had for the same problem, HCG injections each week - worked once and it the next time .... I also had weekly scans - had all mine in the NHS but I think I was very lucky and my consultant was amazing (I'm in Nottinghamshire)

I was pg (just) when I attended a mc clinic. Was given steroids, progesterone, aspirin (whether that is right treatment for you would obviously be up to the clinic). I am glad I still went.

Hello, I have been refered to the Reoccuring MC unit and my appointment for my results is in 2 weeks time but today I've found out I'm pregnant. Did you call the unit or GP to tell them and did they want to see you earlier? This is my 5 pr other 4 were losses so feeling nervous.

I would call the unit (not the GP) they would want to know - if something has shown up it could affect your current treatment, even if it's something as simple as taking aspirin. Good luck

My letter from St Mary's says I can't go to the appt if I am pregnant. As I seem to get pregnant almost every cycle when ttc (and at nearly 41 I can't afford to waste any cycles) I am quite worried I will get a bfp before my appt and then have to mc and reapply. This appt has taken since October to come through!
