Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Am I having a miscarriage?

I'm new here so bare with me..

In the last week of June I had a normal period, I've only just realised that I hadn't had a period in July.. I had some really light spotting which at the time I assumed was a period. I started my period again on Wednesday 7th August but its really really heavy, I've had quite bad cramps which I never get, a lot of clots (sorry tmi) and contraction type pains. I haven't done a test but I have most symptons of a miscarriage. I'm starting to think the bleed last month was implantation maybe? My doctor isn't available till next week and I can't get to the hospital/doctors right now because I don't drive.. Would anyone say this is a miscarriage? Or just a heavy period? Also if I'm able to see my doctor today? Wat will happen?

Thanks for any help!! X

It's very hard to say without a blood test. I would recommend seeing your GP - I would try to arrange for the next few days/give them a call (say suspected miscarriage rather than odd period, as this will make it more serious to them; better to rule out a serious thing than start with them thinking it's routine if you get my meaning), as it sounds like it might be an early MC, and if that is the case, you'll need check ups to avoid infection and so forth. Of course those risks are minor but better safe than sorry. You might also try a clearblue test; if it comes up with a tiny amount of HCG (when it says 1-2 weeks) that might suggest what some call a 'chemical pregnancy' which is a loss when the embryo was so small you couldn't see it.

I hope your pain subsides quickly and this isn't a loss. But better safe than sorry. Flowers

Hi June, were you TTC?

From what you have described, it is possible you may be having a very early miscarriage. I would advise taking a home pregnancy test if you have one available.

I wouldn't say you need to see anyone at the moment, maybe make an appointment to see your GP next week, so you will know more by then how you are getting on, to be honest the hospital wouldn't be able to do much at this stage unless you have an early pregnancy unit near you, but even then it is very early and I would do a self test first as this may not be pregnancy related at all anyway. Save yourself a long wait sitting around at a hospital if you can!

Obviously if the bleeding is very heavy (soaking a large pad in less than an hour), the pain is unbearable or you have a raised temperature, smelly discharge (signs of infection) feel sick dizzy or unwell go to A&E asap, ring an ambulance if you need to.

There is lots of very good advice on here already too, just do a search.

Hope you feel better soon xx
