Miscarriage at 6 weeks

Hi all

I have been bleeding for just over two weeks now it started off light red bleeding with cramps starting last Thursday which resulted in a visit to A&E that night. I was seen by someone from the gynae team who did an internal examination and a blood test and said it could be a threatening miscarriage. My HCG levels were at a 1,000 and I went back to the hospital two days later for a further blood test.

A phone call from the Doctor on Sunday confirmed that I was miscarrying after my HCG levels had dropped to 650. Heavy bleeding began that night and lasted almost 3 days I lost little clots inbetween and a small pinkish gray ball over these days by tuesday night I was back to light bleeding.

On Wednesday night i had intense cramps/contractions and pressure with the urge to push, this is my second miscarriage and when this happened last time i passed the feutus over the next few hours, but this time nothing, the bleeding didn't increase and i've lost no tissue etc. since, the contractions and the urge to push just went away and i have only had mild cramps on and off since.

I also took a pregnancy test yesterday which showed a very faint positive. Bleeding is getting lighter and lighter as each day passes. Does this sound like i have passed everything or should i expect more. This experience has been nothing like the last.

Really sorry for your loss, AnxiousAnnie. I don't have a medical background, and every case is different anyway, but I am miscarrying also at 6 weeks. Bleeding has lasted two weeks so far (some heavy days, some light). I've passed about 4 or 5 largish (1 to 2 inch) pieces of placenta and other small clots and tissue. I don't think I've passed the sac yet as this measured 3.2 cms on the scan and will go for another next week. I think you need to ask your doctor for another scan too.
