Hello. I have to admit I am freaking out a bit now. I would really like to know if anyone has ever experienced this or has any advice to offer. I feel so helpless.

I am 15+3 pregnant, all was ok at my 12 week scan ( a real relief because my last pregnancy ended in a mmc) but yesterday I started having these really sharp back/abdominal cramps that came and went intermittently throughout the day. I thought perhaps I'd just been overdoing it, picking up my toddler etc. I became a bit confused though when they kept up quite regularly throughout the night even when I was just lying down still. In the morning I began to write down when they came and realised that it was nearly exactly every ten minutes regardless of what I was doing. I called my midwife group for a bit of advice and the woman I spoke to thought that it was likely I was just overdoing it but if it continued then to go to my GP. So later this morning I made an appointment with the GP and went to see her. She tried to listen for the heartbeat but could only hear the placenta so asked me to come in a bit later to see if a different doctor could hear the heartbeat. She also thought that the pain I was describing seemed to be too high up (it's about the level of my belly button) to be anything to worry about.
I went back later and another doctor had a listen and he found the heartbeat but only for a split second - but this was enough for both of them to think that I was fine. So, I'm figuring that if a midwife and two different doctors don't think I should worry then maybe I shouldn't?
BUT...... this is my third pregnancy, the only thing these pains feel like is contractions, nothing else. They are roughly 10 - 15 minutes apart. They are not getting more intense or changing in any particular way but it just does not feel good.
I am panicking. I don't know what to do.
I'd really appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

dear martha please please please phone your maternity ward and go in for a check up! They might refer you to an EPAU! It is quite early to pick up a heartbeat properly with a doppler and they will be able to check it better with a scan!
