Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

How did you mc start?

I don't know if I am miscarrying or not. I am 6 weeks for lmp but about 4 days behind this by my own dates. I have pretty much had brown cm since before my bfp. It comes and goes, is not heavy, and is sometimes only when I wipe. I am unsure if it is getting heavier or if it is a miscarriage. If you had a mc, how did it start? How quickly did it end? I know I am being extremely negative but after a recent mmc I can't help but assume the worst :(

My two not mmc's both started like that, but both progressed to bleeding in a few days. But lots of women have spotting or brown discharge and go on to have healthy babies.

The only way to know is to go to your gp and ask for an epau referral to get an early scan.

Thanks CMOT. I think its too early for a scan which is why I am riding it out. I thought that if I was starting to mc the pregnancy test line would be fainter or the same as my bfp, but it is much much stronger so that hasn't helped me! Will wait and see what happens...

There should be a hb at 5 weeks, and by the time they organise anything you'd be 6 weeks, so not too early.

As you know, hpts aren't a good indicator of whether a pregnancy is progressing, but obv is a good sign.

Fingers crossed!

Last time I went to the EPU at 6 weeks they said they could see a hb, then printed a picture, then took it all back :( They were obviously mistaken. Sent me home for 2 weeks, I could not stand it so went private a week later to confirm mmc and had ERPC. 6 week scans are now ruined for me :( In my mind at least if I wait til 7-8 weeks there will be less of a question as things are a bit clearer.

Hello Banana Will your GP to blood tests to see if your HCG is increasing? should double every 48-72 hours.
I had that type of brown spotting and was fine, he's just turned 6.
Have had mc very recently, and had lower back ache, followed by period type bleeding that turned heavy...the biggest sign was my pregnant feeling dissapeared, mainly my boobs seemed to deflate.
I would be careful using HPT to check, as that's what I did...cost a fortune and still showed + after mc.

I hope you are ok and wish you all the best x

Sorry for your loss ltg. My GP would not do them last time so I doubt it this time.

The brown is only there as CM and sometimes when I wipe, sometimes not. Heavier (i.e. a small spot in underwear) if I am not taking it easy or after a poo (TMI). Symptoms increasing not decreasing. I guess all of these things should be reassuring me but I am still unsure...waiting is the worst!!

oh banana I know how hard it is, and how every symptom and twinge makes you paranoid.

Have had 3 MMCs; the last one I had spotting/brown CM from BFP to scan at 12 weeks; not every day, sometimes only one day a week.

Scan estimated baby had died at 10+1. I was also using progesterone cream during this pg, don't know whether this was relevant.

Know exactly what you mean; early scans are a bit pointless really. My 3 losses were estimated at 12w, 9w, 10w.... earlier scans would have shown HBs, so what would have been the point.

The waiting is AWFUL I know. I hope all works out for you.

Banana.I would recommend you have an early scan just to identify that you dont have an ectopic pregnancy as brown loss can be a symptom..this doesnt mean it is..but its best to be sure..

however I had constant brown discharge and lots of bleeding almost from day one..countless scans..in fact a 7 week scan confirmed that part of the pregnancy sac had seperated from the womb causing the bleeding and I was told I would definitely misscarry..

my little one is now 5 months old and asleep in her cotSmile...
