Headaches with Femoston 1/10

I started Femoston 1/10 mg on 21st October the first two weeks were okay but have started to have one sided headaches, eye pressure, neck pain everyday continually for 5 days now. Nothing really helps with them painkiller wise and have also had a heavy period over this past week too. Not sure what to do? I wanted to give them at least three months trial but tbh having to come home from work and go to a darkened room fall asleep until headache slightly lift a little. Do I stop taking them? Anyone else had this? I’ll call my gp for appointment but obviously that won’t be for a while. Thanks in advance!

By the way I’m 44, still have periods but started hrt due to my fsh levels being levels of “Postmenopausal” -( bloods taken 3x to check). Over the past year I’ve had anxiety, sleeplessness and other symptoms. Never had headaches though. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I am 43, on femoston 2/10 and have headaches too, especially a few days before my period. I guess I will use it as my new normal.

Not on Femiston, on Oestrogel and Utrogestan, but have started getting headaches too. I’ve been in HRT for about two months, the first month or so I felt great, so much better. The Utrogestan part of the cycle was a bit rough but manageable.

Then about two weeks ago I started getting headaches - not while taking Utrogestan, which might have explained it. One-sided, pain getting worse over the two weeks, developing some loss of sensation around one eye.

So I’ve stopped using Oestrogel until I can see my doctor. Headache has eased, although had one yesterday - but not one-sided, just general.

I’ll be well pissed off if I have to stop altogether, it was really helping!

The perimenopause symptoms were coming back too, so maybe it’s the dosage?? Especially the feeling of ants crawling on skin, exhaustion and brain fog.

It’s a tough one, as in if I knew the headaches would pass or start to lessen then I would probably continue but they’re really impacting my days. Guess it’s just trying to find one that works for you.

Interesting you say that awkwardsquad as Oestrogel and Utrogestan was going to be my next request from gp. This is definitely a journey isn’t it. Crawling skin feeling is most uncomfortable...

@Desertislanddiscs update from me - been to see GP, and I’m officially off the HRT. Dammit.

Hi all I've just had a. Similar headache today and I'm ten yrs post Meno..my periods stopped at 40 and I was prescribed femoston..it actually put me in hospital with a migraine so severe I lost my field of vision and balance..I was only given it for my bones as I didn't really have any other symptoms maybe because I was young and probably took no notice or was just just oblivious..I was taken of it straight away..I know if you are prone to headaches hrt can make them worse or better it just depends..glad I'm of the stuff now looking back I was so scared

That’s a shame @awkwardsquad, maybe there’ll be something else that you can try next. Hope you’ve got a good GP.

@Bazzy1 Well a week after stopping the femoston I’m still suffering with the same headache. Interesting to hear what you’ve got to say about your experience...! Sounds horrendous. Shock. I might now go and get my blood pressure checked with a chemist this afternoon and ask them their advice. Syndol works but I can’t be taking that everyday (working, family to care for). Never been one for headaches before.
