Please tell me it gets better and this isn't my new normal.

I'm 49 and perimenopausal since surgery a few months ago.

I'm an intelligent, degree educated, professional in a job with a lot of responsibility. I also manage a large team of people.

Since my surgery, I am forgetting words. Basic words. It is now bordering on becoming a problem as I start a new job very soon. The same, but different so a lot of new things to learn.

Some days I struggle to remember my name. How am I going to cope? Do I need to see my GP?

I've had this and it has improved a bit since I started HRT. I assume you are on it as you had surgery? Maybe you could try a higher dose?

My memory is terrible since I had my hysterectomy. My short term memory just doesn't seem to work and I forgot words all the time. I replace those word with 'thing' which makes me look like a silly wee girl. I am 35 and also in a degree level professional position that requires me to talk about technical issue and I forget everything. Its a nightmare. I went to the doctors a few weeks ago to speak about it but didn't get very far.

Mostly I have to take my time when I'm speaking and try to be measured and think before I speak etc.
