I'm in my early 50s and have recently come off HRT patches due to the severe migraines I am getting just before my period comes. The headaches aren't getting any better, they last for up to four/five days and are having quite an effect on my quality of life, I find I just want to hide away in a dark room for the whole time which isn't feasible when I have to work. I went on HRT about a year ago due to the aches and hot flushes. Now I'm getting the flushes again which seem to be more frequent and intense. My main worry is the headaches, I keep hoping due to my age they will sort themselves out once I stop my periods but sadly I have had symptoms for about four years now with no end in sight. I am normal weight, don't drink alcohol and don't smoke. Currently I manage the headaches by taking triptans but my GP is considering propranolol, has anyone had the same symptoms and how did you manage them?
