Femoston 2/10 and oestrogel?

I'm currently taking Femonston 2/10 and do like it .
I've been on others and not got on with them including the Mirena coil.
I'm still getting mood swings and more so aching joints .
Is it possible to add oestrogel every day as well or would that be too much ?
I've got a review at the gp's next week and have to tell her want I want!
TIA

This is really a very specialist question and it's unlikely your GP would know the answer.

The crux is whether the progesterone in Femoston is enough to keep the uterine lining under control if you increase estrogen to over 2mgs a day. The gel is 0.75mgs per pump. Very few women use more than 2mgs but it may depend on where you are in peri or post menopause.

The maximum dose for gel is 4 pumps- that's 3 mgs.

If you want to increase your estrogen you should ask for a referral to a specialist in my opinion, or swap to gel completely with the appropriate amount of progestogen.

How long have you been on your current regime? You should give all types at least 3 months.

I wrote pretty much the same post, i have been on femoston 1/10mg for 2 months with 1 pump of oestrogel (i requested this last month as i believe i was on a too low dosage) and waiting impatiently for my 3 month review as i want to up it to 2/10mg. I have no more peri symptoms except very very bad joints and muscles which are wrecking my daily life and believe me i am a very upbeat person. I think 2/10mg femoston + oestrogel might upset the ratio of the progesterone so for what i have read and been advised by quite clued up ladies our best best is to switch entirely to gel for the oestrogen (you can apply up to 4 pumps a day) then use Utrogestan for the progesterone, also i have read very often that the pills are more risky in terms of blood clots and do not get so well assimilated by the body compared to gel and patches, which means you end up not getting 1mg of oestrogen but maybe 0.75. Like you i am preparing my speech before i see the doctors, it's like being back at school ! Grin

I've been on femoston 2/10 for 3 months now - I think I like the easyness of taking a tablet !
I think I will ask the dr for the oestrogel / urogestran combo - I'm sure I need more oestrogen.
I always come out of the dr's disappointed- I think she thinks I'm a bit nuts 😂
Thanks for you answers

The dose of progestogen in Femoston 1/10 is the same as in Femoston 2/10 ie 10 mg dydrogesterone. Therefore adding a small amount of extra oestrogen (ie gel) to Femoston 1/10 is less likely to cause over-thickening of the uterus lining than adding extra to 2/10 - so Discoisabelle - you could well be OK with this. Of course individuals respond differently so this is just a broad rule of thumb. I would still not want to do this without supervision though. It is not possible to compare oestrogen doses between tablets and gel precisely because with tablets they go through the digestive system and then through the liver before reaching the blood-stream and target tissues, whereas with gel it is absorbed directly into the bloodstream through the skin. There is huge variability in the amount each woman absorbs via the different methods.

You are already on 2mgs of Femoston aren't you nonny?

Utrogestan is a pill / capsule. It doesn't come as a gel or cream. No progesterone does (that is the right dose for womb protection.)

So would I take the utrogestran and use the gel together or would it be at separate times of the month ?
Sorry to be a pain!
Yes I'm currently using 2/10 - just feel I need more!

if you are not yet post meno (12 months, no period) you would have a sequential (cycle) regime like Femoston. Gel daily, Utrogestan 12 x 200 mgs in 28 days.

Hi, I’m was on everol patches 100and don’t like them much they pinch my skin so I changed to estradiol gel 2,5 mg daily. Does any one know if this is the same dose as patches strength 100? And should it work straight away or not seen that I was on the patches 🤔
